AJMER: City police on Friday broke a call center scam that was misleading people on behalf of easy loans and arrested the owner and seized his car.
Jaipur police had notified the city police about this business in Ajmer. According to the police, the Jaipur Police Commissioner gave information about a report filed in Maharashtra by Anita Joshi on a fake loan fraud in Rajasthan.
Anita was duped out of 73,000 rupees for this scam and this call center had mentioned their head office in Jaipur, but after an investigation it was found that the scam was operated from Ajmer.
The police raided the office in Civil lines near the Rajasthan Legal Aid Authority office and confiscated computers and documents and arrested Sanwar Singh Rawat, 35, a resident of Nasirabad’s Bhavanikheda, who operated the Canopus Total Service Private Ltd. call center. the defendant’s office and car.
Police said the defendant had hired about 30 people who used to call people to offer easy loans with low interest rates. When people showed interest on their loans, they charged Rs 10,000-30,000 as processing fees and cheated. Police said he made about 200 calls every day. Interestingly, they mostly made calls to people who resided in South India. CO North Priyanka Raghuvanshi raided the premises with her team and seized the office.
