The Wednesday evening meal on December 1 at the Lutheran Church of Bethlehem, 418 Eighth Ave. NE, Brainerd, is made up of burgers. It will be served from 5:15 p.m. to 6:20 p.m. or when it is gone. The cost is $ 7.

The Wednesday Night Advent service using the Holden Evening Prayer Liturgy begins at 6:20 p.m. with the preaching of Pastor Mark Skinner.

Catechism and the group of secondary school students will meet at 7 p.m. The Elders Choir will rehearse at 7 p.m.

Sunday, Bethlehem Lutheran will celebrate the Second Sunday of Advent with in-person services with communion at 8:20 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. with the preaching of Pastor Mark Skinner. The 10:30 am service will be broadcast live at www.facebook.com/bethlehem.brainerd. The service will be set up www.belcnet.net after its completion for later viewing. Sunday school will start at 9:25 am Sunday.

Men’s Bible Study takes place Tuesdays at 7:30 a.m.

Trinity Lutheran Church, 1420 S. Sixth St., Brainerd, has three worship services scheduled for this week.

On Wednesday December 1 there will be a worship service with Holy Communion at 6 p.m. with the preaching of Pastor Hans Anderson. A meal will be served in the community hall from 5 p.m. The First Communion course will take place at 5.15pm. Confirmation students from grades six to eight will meet for a servant project in the sanctuary at 6:45 p.m. There will be a choir rehearsal at 5 p.m. : 3 p.m.

On Sunday December 5, there will be two worship services at 8:15 am and 10:30 am. Pastor Hans Anderson will preach at both services with Holy Communion. The Sunday service will air at 9 a.m. on KVBR 1340 Radio and the 8:15 a.m. service is broadcast live. The sermons are posted on Facebook.

The traditional Advent festival will take place from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the community hall. This is an intergenerational event with holiday music, refreshments and several craft projects. Sunday school classes will not be combined.

On Sunday, December 5, the First Lutheran Church, 424 S. Eighth St., Brainerd, will celebrate the Second Sunday of Advent with 9 am church services in the sanctuary and online. ELCA Bishop Amy Odgren will preach and preside during the service and for the installation of Pastor Jordan Gades, who has recently been called to serve as associate pastor at First Lutheran Church. Holy Communion will be celebrated.

Masks are mandatory.

The 9 a.m. worship service will be broadcast on YouTube and Facebook.

The soup supper will take place on December 8 at 5:15 p.m. in the Koinonia room.

The Advent service on Wednesday will take place on December 8 at 6 p.m.

The WELCA Holiday Cookie Walk and lunch will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on December 11.

The choice of house soup, sea bass and drink will be $ 5. A prepackaged, frozen take-out soup will also be available – creamy wild rice, 15 beans and ham and turkey veg with mini meatballs – for pints, $ 4.50; and pints are $ 8.

BAXTER – To celebrate the Advent season, the Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Baxter is organizing a weekly group to reflect on the season and the poetry of Advent.

On December 1, 8, 15 and 22, the group will meet at 4:30 p.m. in Room 1 of Lord of Life.

During the sessions, the group will examine passages from the Bible and poems from the “Devotions” collection by author Mary Oliver. For those who do not have the book, it is not necessary to purchase a copy to participate in the group.

South Long Lake Church, 13152 Smart Road, Brainerd, will have a service at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, December 5, with Peggy Holtz speaking. Communion will be celebrated and a time of communion will follow. Religious services can be found on Facebook.

BAXTER – From Wednesday December 1 until Christmas morning, Prince of Peace in Baxter will be hosting Advent services midweek at 6:45 p.m. Wednesdays (Dec. 1, 8 and 15).

LITTLE FALLS – The St. Francis Music Center invites the public to the St. Francis Community Choir Christmas Concert at 2 p.m. on December 12 at First Lutheran Church, 2100 Riverview Drive, Little Falls, due to COVID restrictions.

The concert, entitled “There is a light to come!” Presents the 45-member St. Francis Choir singing Christmas music. The community choir is conducted by Barb Stumpf and accompanied by Vicki Spofford.

The St. Francis Brass Ensemble conducted by David Gouker will also perform. The ensemble will begin playing Christmas carols at 1:45 pm Other musicians from the St. Francis Music Center will also be featured.

The concert is free.

The Second Sunday of Advent, Sunday December 5, will feature Communion at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 415 Juniper St., Brainerd.

Worship is at 10 a.m. in person with masks and online at facebook.com/uccbrainerd.

A gift of Christmas flowers can be given on behalf of a loved one by sending a check to the First Congregational Church with Christmas flowers in the memo.
