Crosby Marketing offers $50,000 matching grant to Anne Arundel County Food Bank for July

Crosby Marketing has generously offered to match donations to the Anne Arundel County Food Bank (AACFB), up to $50,000, to help twice as many of our food insecure neighbors this summer.

“With the lingering effects of COVID and the rising cost of daily needs due to inflation, too many people in our community are going hungry or struggling to meet the basic needs of their children,” said Raymond. Crosby, president and CEO of Crosby Marketing. “We are proud to take on this summer matchmaking challenge for the second year in a row to help the Anne Arundel County Food Bank fulfill its essential mission. We hope our donation will inspire others to give and make a real impact.

Crosby has a long history of philanthropy and support for the Anne Arundel County Food Bank. In April 2020, as the pandemic emerged, they donated $40,000, followed by $25,000 in fall 2020. At the end of 2021, they pledged a matching donation of $25,000. And now, with that $50,000 donation, the two-year total is $140,000 for the Anne Arundel County Food Bank, which doesn’t include the hundreds of volunteer hours provided by the organization. .

Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Anne Arundel County Food Bank has distributed over 10 million pounds of food and necessities to underprivileged Anne Arundel County residents.

Record inflation has created conditions that have further exacerbated the financial hardship faced by low-income households across our county, causing more residents to turn to food pantries for access to food and other basic necessities. The AACFB reports that there are an average of 37,000 visits to the pantries of their member agencies each month. This represents a 205% increase from before the pandemic and needs are expected to increase as gas, electricity and food costs continue to rise. In turn, costs also increase at the food bank, leaving less money to buy food.

During the month of July, all donations up to $50,000 will be matched by Crosby Marketing. These donations will support AACFB’s efforts to purchase and distribute nutritious food and basic necessities to more than 100 food distribution sites of our member agencies located in Anne Arundel County.

“Our services at the Anne Arundel County Food Bank are free to our member agencies and the people we serve,” said AACFB CEO Leah Paley. “Crosby Marketing’s generous matching donation will allow us to continue to provide free food and other necessities to our underprivileged, food insecure neighbors.

Matching donations will help us continue our efforts to increase access to free nutritious food for all of our food insecure neighbors in Anne Arundel County. Individuals wishing to have their donation matched through this challenge should go to www.aafoodbank.org/give and donate by July 31, 2022.
