Podcast fans will now have a quick way to get daily local news in a flash as Brainerd Dispatch prepares to launch its new podcast titled “Brainerd Dispatch Minute”.
This is the first such podcast in the Brainerd-Baxter media market and is an initiative to expand Dispatch’s information delivery to include a new audience on the podcast platform. Since 2017, Dispatch has produced the “DispatchCast” podcast, a general interest news podcast providing a more in-depth look at life in the Lake District. Sponsored by Cub Foods of Brainerd and Baxter, the “Brainerd Dispatch Minute” will be the first daily podcast created by the newsroom.
Brainerd Dispatch editor Pete Mohs said he was excited to present the podcast featuring daily highlights from the best stories in the Lake District.
“Podcasts will help readers sort through what’s important to them, from news and weather to sports,” Mohs said. “Readers can then follow our extensive coverage of the best stories in print and online. “
Editor-in-chief Matt Erickson said he thinks the “Brainerd send-out minute” would be a great service to readers.
“It’s another avenue – with our print and digital products – for them to find the news that’s important to them and the content they want,” Erickson said.
The Brainerd Dispatch Minute will combine the reporting power of the Brainerd Dispatch with other news properties from Forum Communications Co. across Minnesota to fill a niche with a podcast that will be available every morning Monday through Friday.
