A former accountant for Brainerd International Raceway was indicted by a federal grand jury yesterday for embezzling more than $ 100,000 from the racetrack. The 49-year-old woman from Golden Valley used the business credit card for personal expenses, created fake bills, and paid $ 50,000 on her own credit card with a business check.

County Attorney Jack Graham asked the district court to overturn the county council out of its 1992 budget. Graham had asked for $ 282,000 for his ministry; the county reduced it to $ 252,000. Graham said the board’s action was arbitrary and capricious and would prevent it from adequately compensating its staff.

Supt. JA Sater admitted the school board could have done more to publicize the existence of a committee discussing the conversion of Lincoln School to a college, but denied keeping it from the public. Parents of the school children also said no Lincoln members were on the committee and called for the decision to be postponed. It was granted.
