Publix Vice President of Marketing Retires; Announcement of the new vice-president

LAKELAND, Florida – (COMMERCIAL THREAD) – After 48 years of loyal service, Publix Super Markets Vice President of Marketing, Mark Irby, has announced his decision to retire at the end of February 2022.

Irby, 66, began his Publix career in 1973 at the Lakeland, Florida sign store. After having held various positions within this department, in 1983, he joined the advertising department as marketing and research manager. In 1988 he was promoted to Director of Marketing and Advertising and to his current position in 1989.

“Mark’s dedication to helping build, promote, protect and bring the Publix brand to life has made us a better company,” said Kevin Murphy, President of Publix. “It gave meaning to our slogan ‘Where shopping is fun’ and created opportunities for customers to connect with us in an authentic way, creating memorable moments with the stories of ‘my Publix’. Irby and his wife, Debbie, will be staying in Lakeland and look forward to spending more time with family, friends and pursuing their personal interests.

With Irby’s retirement, Publix is ​​pleased to announce the promotion of Malinda Renfroe to Vice President of Marketing.

Renfroe, 42, began her career at Publix in 2005 as a Marketing Support Associate in Lakeland, Florida. She became Field Marketing Coordinator in 2006, Category Marketing Manager in 2010 and Head of Brand Marketing Management in 2016. She was promoted to her current position of Director of Marketing Operations in 2019.

“Malinda is a strong leader with extensive experience in all marketing functions,” said Murphy. “Her ability to foster collaboration and team building, as well as her passion for partner development, will be instrumental as she takes this next step in her career at Publix. Renfroe and her husband, Jason, reside in Lakeland.
