Ohio State freshman quarterback Quinn Ewers traveled to Piscataway, NJ on Saturday for the Buckeyes’ second game of the season in the Big Ten.
Ewers, who signed up for Ohio State in August after belatedly deciding to skip his final season at Southlake Carroll High School in Texas, was not on the Buckeyes’ travel list to Minnesota earlier this season.
Ewers arrived late at training camp, the result of some procedural hurdles after leaving high school prematurely.

Coach Ryan Day said Ewers was injured shortly thereafter. This news would appear to be a sign that things are starting to turn in the right direction for the real freshman.
Ohio State quarterback depth chart
Ewers is one of four freshmen in the Ohio State Quarterback Hall. Redshirt rookie CJ Stroud is the starter, but he missed Akron’s game with a shoulder injury.
True rookie Kyle McCord started in his place and was the top rookie in the conference last week against the Zips.
Jack Miller, a freshman in a red shirt also played against the Zips.
Ryan Day admitted that Quinn Ewers is behind
Ahead of Akron’s game, Day admitted that Ewers’ transition had been difficult.
“I think he would tell you that it was tough for him to kind of jump into this thing in the preseason and then be out for a bit,” Day said.
Ewers was the top-rated quarterback in the 2022 recruiting class before he reclassified and entered this season. He subsequently made headlines when he signed a $ 1.4 million endorsement deal.
