Retail Industry Steps Up ‘Tiger’ Marketing In Year of the Tiger

SEOUL, January 3 (Korea Bizwire)As the Year of the Tiger begins in the Chinese Zodiac, the retail industry is promoting a variety of products using tiger characters.

Shinsegae Department Store featured a variety of products with tiger designs for babies, toddlers and children.

The retailer has partnered with high-end children’s clothing brand Ettoi and tiger design brand Muzik Tiger to sell children’s clothing featuring tiger characters.

The store also featured tiger-embroidered bedding, and Shinsegae Food Inc.’s upscale bakery, The Menagerie, released tiger-shaped cakes.

The Lotte department store sells a limited edition of Sulwhasoo cosmetics illustrated with tigers at its branches across the country.

The CU convenience store chain has teamed up with cereal brand Kellogg’s, which uses Tony the Tiger as a mascot, to launch a simple series of meals.

Simple meals, consisting of chicken, pizza, hot dog and salad, are packed in special packaging designed with Tony the Tiger.

Together with the Korea Gold Exchange, E-Mart 24 is expected to sell a tiger-shaped gold bar until January 21.
