SWAMITVA Scheme – A Historic Movement to Transform Rural India, My Property – My Right

The launch date of the SWAMITVA Scheme has been chosen as the anniversary of the birth of two great men of the country, Nanaji Deshmukh and Lokanayak Jayaprakash Narayan. Nanaji Deshmukh and Jayaprakash Narayan worked tirelessly for the betterment of rural India. The SWAMITVA scheme is a revolutionary scheme for rural India. The SWAMITVA Plan was announced on April 24, 2020 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the occasion of National Panchayati Raj Day. Property cards will be distributed to owners according to the property plan. Currently, more than 1 lakh of landowners in the country will receive the link via SMS from which they can download their property card.

The land measurement system is from Akbar’s time. But the villagers do not yet have any legal documents on the ownership of residential properties. Villagers will be able to obtain easy loans from banks by obtaining property cards under the SWAMITVA scheme. The prices of rural houses will go up. Now it will be possible to use residential land and properties as financial assets.

In the framework of the pilot project, 6 states were selected for the SWAMITVA scheme. Survey work in selected villages has been completed. A total of 763 villages were identified from Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Karnataka. Its goal is to distribute property cards to the owners of 6.42,000 villages by 2024 in a phased manner. Important points for understanding the SWAMITVA Scheme have been highlighted.

Announced on April 24, 2020

The SWAMITVA Scheme was duly announced by the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi on April 24, 2020 on National Panchayati Raj Day. The main objective of this plan is to distribute property cards to millions of inhabitants of the country to establish their ownership of land and residential property.

The reason for the selection of October 11

October 11 is a very important day for India, especially for rural areas of India. The contribution of two great men to the development of rural India is incomparable. Nanaji Deshmukh and Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan, both great men, were born on October 11. For this reason, the SWAMITVA Scheme’s physical distribution date was set at October 11.

The SWAMITVA scheme is a central government scheme

It is absolutely important to know that the SWAMITVA plan under which property cards will be distributed to villagers is a plan of the Central Government’s Ministry of Panchayati Raj. The department of revenue or the department of land records of all states will cooperate with the Ministry of Panchayati Raj. The India Survey has been associated with this technical cooperation work.

Use of drones for surveying

Drones and other modern equipment / technologies have been used for surveying work under the SWAMITVA scheme. In a few months, the land and housing survey of 1.32,000 rural families has been successfully carried out. In the next 4 years, land and residential properties of the 6.42,000 villages in the country will be inspected.

Reduced land ownership dispute

Under this ambitious plan, all villagers will obtain a property card related to the ownership of their land and house within 4 years. There will be no doubt in anyone’s mind about the ownership of the land and the house. For this reason, disputes in rural areas regarding land and house ownership will definitely be reduced.

Security

Villagers will have a sense of security with the property card. There will be no encroachment on agricultural land, commercial land, or residential homes.

Development of the rural economy

Even when India’s GDP was continuously falling, the productivity of the agricultural sector was continuously increasing. The rural economy has a significant contribution to the country’s economy. By reducing land disputes, villagers will be able to spend more time on agriculture and other productive jobs. This will allow a rapid development of the rural economy.

Possibility of using residential and land properties as financial assets.

Under the SWAMITVA scheme, villagers will get a property card. This property card will be a property card for a house or property. Houses or residential land can be used as financial assets. Banks will easily make loans to villagers on the basis of a property card. The property card will act as a legal document. This card will also help the government determine the property tax.

The property card can be downloaded via the SMS link

After applying for a property-related property card, the state governments concern department will send a link via SMS. The property card can be downloaded by clicking on this link. Currently, 346 villages in Uttar Pradesh, 221 in Haryana, 100 in Maharashtra, 44 in Madhya Pradesh, 50 in Uttarakhand and 2 villages in Karnataka have been included in the first phase of this project. Villagers will be able to download their property card on their mobile via the SMS link.

Property card The only legal document for rural residential property.

Until now there were no authentic legal documents available on the ownership of residential properties in rural areas. The property card is legal proof of residential property. Khasra-Khatauni has been used to determine ownership of the land, but the villagers did not have legal documents to establish ownership of the house. The property card will be a legal document in relation to the ownership of the residential property.
